Cottenham Sawmills expands its product range with the introduction of self-assembly timber structure

Cottenham Sawmills has teamed up with a local Bury St. Edmunds based timber merchant to supply solid, French green oak timber structures in self-build form, to its customers. The impressive structures from garages to summer houses are made entirely from sustainably sourced, French green oak timber. Freshly felled oak is known as green oak as it is not yet had time to completely dry. The timber can be easily cut, shaped and worked in this form, making it ideal for construction projects. Once dry, green oak is known for its incredible strength and long-lasting qualities, without the need for treatment.

The decision was made to introduce this entirely new product to the sawmills portfolio, to essentially offer more choice to customers.

Paul Jones, Managing Director of Cottenham Sawmills explains, “We have a lot of very hands-on customers who like to be able to say they built a specific piece in their garden. With these self-assembly kits, cut by hand to the required size, customers can be self-sufficient in completing a dream project, with the assurance of it being of the highest quality.”
